Eligibility Requirements
To receive complimentary services through HERstory, participants must meet the eligibility requirements below.
Women
with a household income of $55,000 or less who are experiencing financial hardship or difficult life circumstances may qualify for complimentary professional hair care services through HERstory.
Children
enrolled in kindergarten through 10th grade may qualify for complimentary professional hair care services if they live in a household with an income of $55,000 or less and are experiencing financial hardship or difficult life circumstances.
A parent or legal guardian must complete the eligibility process on behalf of the child. Eligibility is based on the household’s income and circumstances.
Required Documentation
Please bring all documentation needed to verify your eligibility. This may include:
- Government-issued photo ID
- Proof of household income for all adults in the household, if applicable
- Government assistance award or benefit letter, if applicable
- School documentation for children, if applicable
Examples of supporting documentation may include:
- Referral or verification from a domestic violence agency or shelter
- Referral from a school counselor, social worker, or community organization
- Documentation from a case manager or other service provider
- Additional documentation that helps verify your eligibility
During Appointment
We’ll review your documentation, discuss your eligibility, answer any questions you may have, and review important program information, including participant policies and expectations. Before your appointment ends, you’ll know whether you qualify for services.
After Appointment
Before your appointment ends, you’ll know whether you qualify for services. If approved, you’ll receive a unique program number required to book your complimentary hair care service online. You may choose to schedule your appointment before leaving or book online at a later time using your program number.
